Error: Setup is unable to proceed
The following error message may be displayed on your screen, when you try to install the Microsoft Office 2007 program or suite on your computer after removing the earlier installation of the beta release version of a 2007 Microsoft Office suite or program from the computer.
Setup is unable to proceed due to the following error(s):
The 2007 Microsoft Office system does not support upgrading from a prerelease version of the 2007 Microsoft Office system. You must first uninstall any prerelease versions of the 2007 Microsoft Office system products and associated technologies.
Correct the issue(s) listed above and re-run setup.
Cause of the Error
This error is displayed when one of the following from the beta release version of Office 2007 still exists on your computer:
- A beta release version c omponent
- A beta release version program
- A beta release version of Office 2007 add-in
Resolution Steps
To uninstall programs, components, and add-ins of the beta release version of Office 2007, perform the following steps:
- Open the Start menu, select Run, type appwiz.cpl, and then select the OK button to display the Add or Remove Programs window.
- Scroll down the Currently installed programs list, select any of beta release version of a 2007 Office program or component listed below and then select the Remove button.
- 2007 Microsoft Office Add-in: Microsoft Save as PDF or XPS (Beta)
- 2007 Microsoft Office Add-in: Microsoft Save as PDF (Beta)
- 2007 Microsoft Office Add-in: Microsoft Save as XPS (Beta)
- Microsoft Expression Web Designer Beta 1
- Microsoft Expression Web Designer CTP1
- Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack for Word, Excel, and PowerPoint 2007 File Formats (Beta 2 Technical Refresh)
- Follow the screen instructions to complete the uninstallation process.
- Repeat the procedure until all programs and components are removed from the computer.
- Restart your computer, and try to install the Microsoft Office 2007 program or suite release version on your computer again.
