Application Failed to Initialize ErrorAn error message similar to the one given below may be displayed if you have the prerelease (beta) version of Windows Defender running on your system. “Application failed to initialize: 0x800106ba. A problem caused this program's service to stop. To start the service, restart your computer or search Help and Support for how to start a service manually." Cause of the Error This error message is displayed because Windows Defender beta expired on the December 31, 2006. Now, when you try to launch this program beyond its expiry date, you may receive the error. Resolution Steps To resolve this problem on Windows XP and Windows Server 2003, perform the following steps:
