Unable to Sync Using a Serial Cable

If you are unable to use the USB cable and have to use the serial cable to sync your data, then perform the steps listed below to enable the process:

  1. Log on to your system with a user account that has administrative rights to your system.
  2. Open the Windows Mobile Device Center application, and then click Mobile Device Settings.
  3. Ensure that the Allow connections to one of the following: option and the Bluetooth option are selected and then click the OK button.
  4. Next, run the regedit command to open the Registry Editor window and then navigate to the following registry key:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows CE Services

Here change the value of SerialPort to COM1 or COM2.

  5. Exit the Registry Editor window.

You must now be able to sync using serial cable.
