Cannot Change Password Because Domain Is Not Available

You may receive the following error message after upgrading to Windows XP Professional, even if you have never used a password on your computer:

Your password will expire in a number days. Do you want to change it now?

Resolution Steps

1. OpenStart menu, select Control Panel, and then click the User Accounts link.
2. Next, click the name of your user account, and then click the Create a password link.
3. Type the password for your user account in the Type a new password and Type the new password again to confirm fields.
4. Click the Create Password button.

Note: In case, you want t remove the password you created at a later stage, open the User Account Control Panel again. Select your user account, select Remove my password, type your password, and then click the Remove Password button.
